Founder Chairperson's Address at “The Spirit of Universality”, American Montessori Public School's 30th Anniversary Celebrations, Oct. 11th, 2025
Good evening dear children, parents, our chief guest Dr. Aditya Sondhi and Guest of Honour Col. Ravi Singh, distinguished guests, Principal Manita Singh, Vice Principal Mr. Dilbag Singh, our teaching faculty, administrative and support staff.
It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you all this evening to celebrate our 30th anniversary not just as parents of our students but as partners in the most important journey of all - raising and educating children.
There is a saying we often hear: “it takes a village to raise a child“…and this simple truth holds a profound meaning. I believe that our school is a village where thousands of children have been raised successfully with your help, dear parents. Children are not shaped by one person or one place but by a community of caring adults, that is, our teachers and staff who guide them diligently with love and patience day in and day out. Of course parents, you are your child's first teachers - you are the roots of their strength and the source of unconditional love. But alongside you, the school becomes an extension of that home, another environment where values, skills, and character take shape in addition to learning academic skills.
At AMPS, our teachers do not see themselves merely as teachers who impart subject knowledge. They see their role as builders of a child's world - nurturing curiosity, compassion, resilience, responsibility and adaptability. Learning adaptability is a crucial aspect of life. It means how to learn, unlearn or relearn, and to see failure not as an end, but as a stepping stone to further their own development. When parents and educators work together hand-in-hand, a child receives a message of consistency, harmony and sense of belonging. Together, we form a nurturing village where every child is supported, encouraged and believed in.
Education, therefore, is not only about preparing students for tests, but preparing them for life as Dr. Maria Montessori emphasized. It is about teaching them to think creatively and critically, to care deeply, respecting others, and to find solutions collaboratively. This mindset ensures they are not just prepared for exams, but for a lifetime journey of learning and surfing life's unpredictable waves with grace. Our role as a village is to create an environment where children feel safe to grow, safe to make mistakes, and safe to discover who they want to become.
Let us remember: every smile, every word of encouragement, every shared story between home and school strengthens this village, no child walks alone.
Thank you for entrusting us with your children. It is a privilege and a responsibility we hold with the deepest care. Together, let us continue to build a community at AMPS where every child thrives!
Thank you very much for coming tonight.
